Storage at borrow site
Activity Detail
Store and stockpile rock for the purposes of providing a ready source of rock for maintenance and repair activities associated with the Cleddau River flood protection scheme. The site may also be used for stockpiling rock and gravel material for other use in the Milford Sound area.

Location: The application sites are generally located within, adjacent and near to the true right bank of the Cleddau River in the approximately 3 km section upstream of Deepwater Basin and Milford Sound/Piopiotahi, at or about the following grid references (NZTM):
River Protection Works: CB08: 11975-50403 to 11993-50404
Borrow Site: CB08: 11997-50405
Little Tahiti Staging Area: CB08: 12000-50401
Glowworm Creek: CB08: 11987-50405
Former Borrow Site: CB08: 11984-50406
Legal Description: The proposal is located within the Fiordland National Park, which is owned by the Crown and administered by the Department of Conservation. It is held under Section 4 of the National Parks Act and managed by the Department in accordance with that Act, the General Policy for National Parks, the Fiordland National Park Management Plan and the Fiordland National Park Bylaws.
Areas of land that fall outside the park boundary in the immediate area are:
- State Highway 94 (Designation 260), Te Anau - Milford
- The Coastal Marine Area
Zoning: The site to which the application related is located within the Fiordland Resource Area under the Operative Southland District Plan 2001.
The application includes an assessment of environmental effects.
The applicant has made simultaneous resource consent applications to Environment Southland, which are being publicly notified concurrently for land use consents, discharge consents to air, land and water; water permits and a coastal permit.
The application may be inspected at the Southland District Council Invercargill head office, 15 Forth Street, Invercargill and the Te Anau Area Office, 116 Town Centre, Te Anau during normal office hours.
